An upcoming Netflix feature documentary about the Grenfell Tower Fire, announced by the streamer last week, has been produced by our very own trustee Ahmed Peerbux.
Rogan Productions, the company behind the documentary, has said: The film will painstakingly connect the long and disturbing chain of events that led to the disastrous Grenfell Tower fire that claimed the lives of 72 people in west London in 2017. As well as giving a voice to survivors, bereaved families and firefighters, the documentary will unravel and document a series of events that took place in the years before the fire highlighting each warning and failing revealing it to be the inevitable result of Government neglect and cynical industry practices.
Commenting on the announcement, Netflix UK boss Anne Mensah has said: “This year you will see a number of big British documentary series and films on Netflix UK. These are the important stories that demand to be told. For instance, Grenfell. For the first time, we pull together the disturbing chain of events that led to that tragedy. This is the story behind the headlines and is guaranteed to make you angry.”
The documentary will air later this year, and more information can be found here.
